About Shaymein Ewer

My Professional Experience

It's been 14 years since I built my first website. At the time I had no clue what I was doing, there was a lot of trial and error. A lot of trial and error. But my goal was simple, I wanted to be able to keep in touch with my friends across the country, to display my artwork and to just be a part of the awesome thing called "the Internet".

I've been drawing all my life. Constantly sketching and doodling and eventually being able to have award winning artwork in my school days. The idea that I could make a career out of my creativity and art drove me to advertising design right out of high school. I attended the Art Institute of MN with a major in multimedia design. (Even to the instructors the internet was a new concept, businesses were not quite utilizing the internet as a marketing tool correctly just yet.)

It’s hard to really put a title or description on what I do, I’m a graphic and web designer at the core but I’ve enhanced my design skills by learning marketing, usability and content strategy to develop compelling websites with a purpose. I used to develop sites purely on good design, but now I appreciate the importance of planning, governance of content, SEO and overall user experience. It’s easy to make a design look good, but you want that design to work for you. It needs to speak to your audience, develop your brand and to be able to carry that brand message for years to come.

I’ve been fortunate to work with such great local Twin Cities companies as Andersen Windows, 3M, and Target. I am currently the Creative Director and Senior Web Designer at PressEnter Creative in Hudson, WI.I use Adobe Creative Suite 4 & 5 on both Mac and Windows platform. Depending on the client’s needs and technical capabilities, I use a variety of content management systems. I have experience with Expression Engine, WordPress, Joomla!, Shopify, Big Cartel and Simple CMS.

I keep my inspiration flowing by being a part of the Dribbble and Forrst communities. I keep up to date with programs using lynda.com and various design blogs.

My Personal Life

I was born in Wisconsin and raised in the McKinney, TX area for the first eight years of my life. Sometimes that place still seems like home and with the long midwest winters, sometimes it's tempting to make the move south. I've been in the St. Croix Valley of Wisconsin area since the fall of 1987, with a brief stint in the Twin Cities here and there.

My wife Brandy and I were married in 2005 and we have two beautiful children, Ethan and Lola. We currently reside in New Richmond, WI. In our spare time we enjoy time with our children, friends, family and share in the disciple making work that Jesus commissioned us to do at Matthew 28:19, 20. I enjoy playing and writing music when my friends and I are not being adults.

I love to watch the Minnesota Twins and I look forward to Sunday football with nachos and friends.
